Definition :-
Objective Symptoms -also called signs are those symptoms which may be observed by any body --the persons surrounding the patient, the physician himself.
Hahnemann defies objective symptoms as : "The expression of disease in the sensation and functions of that side of the organism ex-posed to the senses of the physician and bystanders". Physical findings and laboratory findings also come under this heading.
Example :-
(i) Swelling of the any part of the body
(ii) Red colouration of the affected parts
(ii) Low or high blood pressure; fever etc.
Significance :-
(i) Latter in development
(ii) Often represents the ultimates or results of disease.
(iii) Are more or less common in nature and hence have less characteristic significance.
Importance :-
(i) They are more important for disease diagnosis.
(ii) They are less useful for selecting homoeopathic medicine (if not modified by peculiarities).
(iii) Its importance in remedy selection is limited to the treatment of infants, insanes, animals and in palliative treatment.
